Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Cashier to join the La Lucia store team. The role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a seamless and accurate checkout experience. The successful candidate will process transactions using the Dis-Chem operating system in line with company policies and standard operating procedures, maintaining zero tolerance for inaccuracies and minimizing fraud risk.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operation experience
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Good command of the English language
  • Basic customer service skills
  • Willingness to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with customers
  • Report customer feedback, complaints, and compliments to supervisors or store management
  • Meet customer turnover targets per hour
  • Stay informed about current promotions and sales
  • Ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues
  • Apply Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles
  • Manage and maintain accurate cash flow
  • Ensure all voids and price changes are properly approved
  • Process merchandise exchanges and returns when authorized
  • Handle all payment methods including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
  • Process loyalty programs and partner rewards systems
  • Secure cash in the drop safe according to procedures
  • Protect personal login credentials and update passwords regularly
  • Ensure all items are scanned and paid for before leaving the store
  • Safeguard all cash within the till at all times
  • Handle daily takings confidentially
  • Identify and report suspicious behavior
  • Assist customers with product-related queries
  • Comply with all security policies and procedures
