SPAR is seeking a skilled and dedicated Blockman to join our dynamic team in Worcester. As a Blockman, you will be responsible for cutting meat products to high-quality standards in alignment with the Butchery Manager’s production plans.
Job Description
- Implement daily production plans for meat processing
- Control stock levels and ensure proper inventory management
- Manage POS (point of sale) and pricing of meat products
- Maintain hygiene and housekeeping standards in the butchery
- Provide excellent customer service
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 school leaver certificate or NQF level 3 equivalent
- Grade 2 Meat Cutting Certificate
- Recognized Butchery apprenticeship or learnership
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Halaal butchery
- Supermarket experience is advantageous
Skills & Knowledge
- Proficient in cutting all species of meat
- Expertise in de-boning and meat processing
- Strong communication skills
- In-depth product knowledge, including cold chain management
- Skilled in production planning and meat cutting techniques
- Ability to perform block tests and manage costings
- Understanding of quality indicators and sanitation control
- Familiarity with meat and poultry cooking methods
- Awareness of current butchery trends
