Bakery Supervisor – Spar Vacancies

Job Description

The Bakery Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily bakery operations to ensure cost control, high product quality, food safety compliance, and exceptional customer service. This role supports efficient stock management, staff supervision, and the consistent execution of merchandising and promotional standards.

Key Performance Areas

• Control and monitor bakery expenses to ensure operations remain within budget

• Deliver excellent customer service to enhance the overall shopping experience

• Assist customers in locating products and provide knowledgeable product guidance

• Ensure bakery products are accurately priced, well displayed, and visually appealing

• Lead and participate in stock takes and regular stock counts

• Plan and execute promotions timeously and according to store standards

• Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in line with store policies and procedures

• Operate point-of-sale systems efficiently and accurately when required

• Assist in the prevention and control of stock shrinkage

• Ensure all bakery equipment is cleaned and maintained to required standards

• Apply correct stock rotation principles to minimise waste

• Develop and implement daily cleaning schedules for the department, equipment, and facilities

• Ensure correct cleaning chemicals and procedures are used to maintain a sanitised and pest-free environment

• Conduct regular spot checks to verify pricing accuracy

• Perform additional duties as requested by management

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 qualification

• Baker’s Certificate is advantageous

• 24–36 months’ experience in a retail environment
