Job Title: Monitoring Officer

Introduction:
As a Monitoring Officer at Rand Mutual Admin Services, you will report to the Compliance Officer. Your key responsibility will be to conduct periodic compliance monitoring reviews to identify areas of non-compliance within the business.

Job Overview:
You will play a crucial role in delivering effective compliance and risk monitoring plans (CRMPs), conducting monitoring reviews, and compiling detailed reports across the RMA Group and its associates as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitoring Planning and Implementation:

  • Complete CRMPs and themed monitoring activities as per the approved Annual Compliance Plan.
  • Facilitate Regulatory Control Workshops with relevant departments ahead of scheduled monitoring reviews.
  • Enhance the compliance control environment by staying updated on legislative developments and adjusting CRMPs accordingly.

Monitoring Reviews:

  • Conduct compliance reviews covering regulatory, legislative, and policy adherence using manual and digital compliance tools.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain organized working papers in line with Compliance Monitoring Methodology.

Monitoring Reporting:

  • Prepare comprehensive reports following Group Compliance standards.
  • Present findings to stakeholders and assist in discussions.
  • Follow up with the business to track and close corrective actions.
  • Maintain a central findings register and update it regularly.
  • Monitor remediation progress of identified issues until resolution.

Ad-Hoc Monitoring & Other Initiatives:

  • Conduct ad-hoc compliance investigations as needed.
  • Support regulatory project implementations.
  • Foster strong relationships with divisional teams, internal audit, and risk management functions.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • LLB / BCom / Internal Audit Degree, or
  • NQF Level 6 Compliance Officer Certificate (advantageous)
  • Professional designations such as CPrac (SA) or AML CPrac (SA) (preferred)
  • 2-4 years of experience in a related role
  • CISA membership (advantageous)
  • Working knowledge of FAIS, Insurance Act, Long-Term Insurance Act, Policyholder Protection Rules, AML (beneficial)
  • Strong planning and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience in drafting compliance reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
