Job Overview
Cashbuild Vacancies is seeking a reliable and detail-driven Cashier to manage all Point of Sale (POS) transactions accurately and efficiently. The successful candidate will ensure excellent customer satisfaction by processing payments correctly and ensuring that no goods leave the store without full payment.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or at least 1 year related work experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language
- Strong numerical skills with accurate calculation ability
- Good administrative and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Key Performance Areas
Cash Handling
- Ensure all allocated cash, including floats and petty cash, balances with no shortages or overages
- Accurately identify and capture all goods on the POS terminal
- Record the correct payment method for every transaction
- Maintain sufficient change throughout your shift
- Complete pick-ups according to company procedures
- Perform accurate cash-ups at the end of each shift
- Deposit daily takings into the drop safe or vault as required
- Process transactions related to other stores, deliveries, and quotations accurately
- Ensure no stock passes through the POS without payment
Administration
- Complete, sign, and file all cashier-related documentation
- Maintain organized and accurate records of transactions
Ready for Business
- Adhere to operational procedures and company standards to ensure daily trading readiness
Customer Service
- Deliver fast, friendly, and efficient service when assisting customers
- Direct customers to the appropriate staff member for additional assistance when needed
- Maintain a professional appearance in line with the company dress code
Safety (OHSA) Compliance
- Promote a safe environment for customers and colleagues within your area of responsibility
- Report any safety concerns or discrepancies to the Store Manager
Security Awareness
- Maintain strict password control and POS system security
- Ensure safe handling and secure transfer of cash to the cash office in accordance with company procedures
