About the Program:

Dis-Chem is seeking a qualified Clinic Practitioner to join their team at Mall of Africa. The role is responsible for managing and operating a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic located within a pharmacy, under the scope of a registered nursing practitioner.

Minimum Requirements:

Essential:

  • Grade 12 – Matric
  • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
  • Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
  • Registered with South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • Nursing practitioner must obtain BHF registration
  • 2-3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Advantageous:

  • Minimum 5 years practicing as a Primary Health Care Sister
  • Experience with Patient Record System, CKS, and Allegra

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Clinic Practitioner duties in line with industry regulations and best practices
  • Manage clinic operations and set objectives to optimize patient flow
  • Ensure all clinic services are consistently available and operational
  • Maintain accurate patient records and follow up on communications
  • Ensure clinic stock and equipment are in working order and sufficiently stocked
  • Process claims accurately and on time
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, store and dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and community healthcare stakeholders

Competencies:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care, occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS pre- and post-counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care
  • Participation in quarterly CPD and in-service training with Dis-Chem
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Understanding of financial implications related to clinic targets
  • Analytical skills for reviewing clinic statistics and commission performance
  • Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial mindset, honesty, and integrity
  • Ability to manage self and team; self-directed and motivated
  • Effective time management

Advantageous:

  • Bilingual
  • Knowledge of business objectives
  • Certifications: Baby Immunisation (DoH/Sanofi Pasteur), Family Planning (DoH), Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, Disease Management

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willingness to work retail hours
  • Physically fit to manage a Primary Health Care Clinic
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport
  • South African citizenship
  • Clear credit and criminal records
