Sales Manager – Regional Insurance

Main Purpose of the Role
The Sales Manager is responsible for driving regional insurance business growth by developing strategic initiatives, strengthening partner and customer value, and enabling frontline sales capability. This role focuses on expanding insurance revenue, increasing market penetration, and supporting transactional sales in collaboration with regional and local teams.
Success Criteria and Key Performance Indicators
- Achieve regional insurance revenue growth targets year-on-year
- Improve frontline insurance sales conversion rates
- Increase insurance product penetration across targeted customer segments
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Business Development and Strategy
- Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand regional insurance offerings
- Align regional insurance sales strategies with overall business objectives
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to support strategic decision-making
Partner and Customer Value Creation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners to support mutual growth
- Develop compelling value propositions aligned to customer and market requirements
- Support the implementation of innovative insurance solutions that enhance customer satisfaction
Sales Enablement and Training
- Design and deliver training programs to improve frontline product knowledge and sales effectiveness
- Act as a subject matter expert on cargo insurance products, processes, and compliance
- Monitor performance and provide coaching to ensure effective execution of sales strategies
Performance Management
- Track and analyze regional KPIs and provide regular performance reports to senior management
- Ensure adherence to company policies, governance, and regulatory requirements
Captive Management
- Support the daily operations of the DSV-owned cell captive
- Review customer contracts and conduct compliance assessments
Professional Qualifications
- Matric or equivalent NQF 4 qualification
- Degree in Commerce, Marketing, Finance, or a related field is advantageous
- FAIS Representative Regulatory Exam Level 1 and Level 5 certifications
- Class of Business 3 and 7
- Registered with the FSP as a Key Individual
Job-Related Requirements
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years’ experience in the insurance industry
- Relevant managerial experience as a compliant Key Individual is advantageous
- Strong computer literacy skills
- Proven experience in sales, business development, or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of insurance products and market dynamics, or the ability to develop this expertise
- Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills
- Ability to train and engage teams across multiple locations
- Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Collaborative leadership style suited to a matrix organization
- Results-driven approach with a focus on sustainable, long-term value creation
- Comfortable enabling frontline success while maintaining limited direct customer engagement
