We are seeking a motivated Young Professional-in-Training to gain practical experience and develop expertise in property management. This position provides a unique opportunity to work in a real-world environment, where you will gain exposure to the operations, control, maintenance, and oversight of real estate and physical property. Through this program, you’ll demonstrate how your education, training, and professional development have prepared you for a career in property management.

Key Responsibilities

As a Young Professional-in-Training, you’ll be involved in various activities to gain hands-on experience and knowledge in property management. Your role will include:

  • Shadowing experienced staff to understand day-to-day operations
  • Participating in learning experiences, attending meetings, and engaging in workshops
  • Traveling to different work environments to broaden your perspective on the industry

You’ll gain practical experience in the following areas:

  • Tenant Management: Learn about tenant relations, lease agreements, and property maintenance.
  • Lease Management: Understand the leasing process, including lease negotiations and renewals.
  • Property Marketing: Explore marketing strategies to attract new tenants and maintain high occupancy rates.
  • Facilities Management: Gain insights into building maintenance, utilities, and safety compliance.
  • Billing and Credit Control: Understand financial management, billing processes, and credit control.
  • Non-Gross Lettable Area (Non-GLA) Management: Learn about the management of non-rentable areas.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with property management.
  • Employee Wellness, Change Management, and Culture Building: Participate in initiatives that foster a positive workplace environment.

You will also undertake projects that focus on:

  • Contract Management: Managing vendor contracts and ensuring compliance with terms.
  • Maintenance Management: Ensuring buildings and facilities are properly maintained.
  • Engineering Management: Understanding engineering systems within properties.
  • Environmental Management: Promoting sustainable practices in property management.
  • Space Management: Optimizing space utilization for maximum efficiency.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Utilities Management: Managing utility services to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Security Management: Understanding security protocols and maintaining a safe environment.

Qualifications and Experience To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (NQF 6/7) in Property Studies, Property Valuation, Real Estate, Information Management, Data Science, or Finance. A National Diploma in real estate studies (NQF 6) is also encouraged.
  • Additional vocational experience or postgraduate studies are an added advantage.
  • A positive attitude and a growth mindset.
