Job Overview
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing warehouse operations to ensure efficient inventory management, productivity, and compliance with quality and safety standards. The role focuses on maintaining accurate stock control, improving operational performance, and leading warehouse teams to achieve key performance targets.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Lead and physically perform daily morning inventory counts.
- Investigate root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective action plans using structured problem-solving tools.
- Improve inventory accuracy and track performance against key inventory KPIs.
- Ensure all material movements are accurately recorded in SAP at all times.
- Utilize warehouse management tools to maintain effective First Expiry First Out (FEFO) practices.
- Identify opportunities to reduce supply chain overheads through continuous improvement initiatives.
Warehouse Layout and Operations
- Ensure strict adherence to the designated warehouse layout including zones for empties, refusals, order picking, repacking, and finished goods.
- Implement and maintain a location-based inventory system to clearly identify stored products.
- Ensure proper blocking procedures are applied to non-conforming inventory.
Quality and Compliance Standards
- Monitor and improve warehouse quality standards, including:
- Cleanliness and housekeeping
- Pest control schedule compliance
- Prevention of cross-contamination from non-food grade chemicals
- Daily temperature control monitoring
- Protection of product exposure
- Ensure compliance with Global Warehouse GOP standards.
- Conduct product quality induction programs for warehouse employees.
- Manage and monitor repacking operations to maintain quality standards and improve productivity.
Picking and Operational Standards
- Implement standardized picking processes and ensure adherence through management routines.
- Monitor and analyze picking accuracy and productivity through performance tracking tools.
Productivity and Capacity Management
- Ensure compliance with warehouse labour productivity standards to improve operational KPIs.
- Allocate and manage labour activities using the SKAP tool.
- Monitor productivity metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
Warehouse Management and Continuous Improvement
- Implement and maintain 5S principles to improve organization and operational efficiency.
- Support the development of management processes including business descriptions, service level agreements, process maps, and operational indicators.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and ensure employees fully understand and follow them.
- Facilitate routine team meetings to review performance, solve problems, and drive operational improvements.
- Establish and maintain Supply Chain Leadership routines and monitor compliance.
- Use structured problem-solving tools such as 5 WHY, Abnormality Reports, SIC, OPLs, RACI frameworks, OWDs, and PDCA cycles to improve performance indicators.
- Cascade KPIs and performance indicators to individual employees and monitor achievement against set targets.
Warehouse Safety
- Promote and maintain a safe warehouse environment by ensuring adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
- Build safety awareness and ensure compliance with relevant safety standards.
Loading and Unloading Operations
- Monitor loading and unloading activities and track performance through the bay allocation system.
- Analyze key operational metrics such as turnaround cycle time, bay utilization, and handling efficiency to improve productivity.
Minimum Requirements
- Three-year relevant diploma or degree.
- At least 2 years of experience in warehouse or logistics operations.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, warehouse systems, and handheld devices.
- Proficiency in SAP systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Excellent planning and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Good self-management and time management practices.
- Strong results-driven mindset and achievement orientation.
