Job Summary
Fidelity is seeking a skilled Video Analyst to join our Specialized Services team. As a Video Analyst, you will play a critical role in reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting video footage to support criminal investigations, security operations, or other related services. Your keen attention to detail and proficiency with video analysis tools will be essential in providing valuable insights for law enforcement, security personnel, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with Video Analysis Software: Experience with CCTV systems, facial recognition, video editing, and motion-tracking software.
  • Data Analysis Tools: Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and specialized platforms for performance and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with Surveillance Systems: Understand the operation of various cameras (CCTV, body cameras, drones) and know how to extract video footage.
  • Video Enhancement & Forensic Analysis: Ability to enhance video quality, isolate key events, and examine footage for investigation purposes.

Analytical Skills:

  • Attention to Detail: Detect subtle movements or anomalies in video footage that others may miss.
  • Pattern Recognition: Identify recurring patterns, faces, or objects in video footage.
  • Critical Thinking: Assess video evidence, draw conclusions, and provide context within broader investigations.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Identify technical issues or performance gaps and propose effective solutions.

Communication & Reporting:

  • Report Writing: Translate video analysis findings into actionable reports for law enforcement, managers, or security teams.
  • Presentation Skills: Present findings clearly, including expert testimony when required.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with security personnel, investigators, and other stakeholders to communicate key findings effectively.
  • Team Support: Contribute to the team’s goals through collaboration and clear communication.

Problem-Solving Abilities:

  • Incident Reconstruction: Use video footage to reconstruct events and provide timelines or sequences for investigations.
  • Adaptability: Quickly analyze footage in varying environments or situations.
  • Decision-Making: Make quick, informed judgments based on video evidence, particularly in high-stakes situations such as live security monitoring.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Education: Grade 12 with CCTV Monitor System Training or equivalent.
  • Preferred Qualifications: A degree in criminal justice, cybersecurity, forensics, IT, or a related field. Certifications such as Certified Forensic Video Examiner are highly regarded.
  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in video analysis within security or forensic industries is advantageous.
  • Technical Certifications: Certifications in video surveillance or specific software tools are a plus.

Adaptability & Continuous Learning:

  • Learning New Tools: Ability to adapt to evolving video technology, software, and equipment.
  • Staying Updated: Keep up with the latest trends, tactics, and technology in the field of video analysis.

Security & Confidentiality:

  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances when required.
  • Discretion: Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.

Time Management:

  • Efficiency: Review extensive footage effectively, often under tight deadlines.
  • Prioritization: Recognize which footage requires immediate attention and act accordingly.
