Transport Supervisor – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Role
The Transport Supervisor is responsible for overseeing transport operations, coordinating drivers, and ensuring the company fleet is managed and maintained in compliance with company policies and Road Traffic legislation. This role ensures that all vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and readily available to support operational demands while driving efficiency, cost control, and service reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Operations & Fleet Control

Supervise daily transport operations, ensuring timely loading, dispatch, and delivery

Coordinate vehicle scheduling, forecasting, and availability to meet operational requirements

Manage fleet servicing, repairs, and maintenance through workshops and panel shops
-
Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy through regular pre- and post-trip inspections

Handle accident management, including documentation and liaison with internal insurance teams

Arrange fleet resources and transport staff to support transport and hub operations
-
Oversee routine and ad hoc maintenance, vehicle tagging, and licence renewals
-
Ensure full compliance with Road Traffic Acts and related regulations

Monitor fuel consumption and reconcile fuel card transactions for vehicles and drivers
-
Manage and control transport equipment and fuel bowser operations
-
Conduct accident investigation meetings and implement corrective actions
-
Recover abuse-related costs where applicable

Implement industry best practices and standard operating procedures for fleet management

Facilitate training, workshops, and development programmes for transport staff
-
Ensure accurate daily transport debriefs and address non-compliance or transgressions

Oversee repair and maintenance of vehicle-mounted handling equipment
Reporting & Record Keeping

Update and monitor weekly vehicle kilometre reports
-
Maintain accurate vehicle and trailer asset registers
-
Compile fuel consumption and fleet utilisation reports

Prepare maintenance, inspection, and cost reports
-
Maintain driver training records, assessments, PDPs, and licence documentation
-
Track licence, certificate of fitness, and compliance reports
-
Maintain the vehicle key register
-
Conduct and record daily and weekly fleet inspections
-
Verify completion of daily transport debriefing
Staff Management

Supervise, measure, and manage staff performance
-
Address staff behaviour and enforce disciplinary procedures where required
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Qualification in Logistics or Transport Management (advantageous)
-
2 to 3 years’ experience in transport operations

Proven fleet management experience
