DisChem Vacancies – Trainee Manager-Western Cape

Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for a Trainee Manager at their Western Cape stores. This role offers an excellent opportunity to learn the overall store operations under the guidance and supervision of an experienced store manager. As a Trainee Manager, you will perform a wide range of retail operational duties while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Essential Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum of 1 – 2 years’ experience in retail management disciplines including stock management, cash handling, reporting, expense control, and customer service
  • Diploma in Financial/Admin or a relevant 3-year Diploma
  • Computer literate – MS Office
  • Willing and able to work retail hours
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Own reliable transport

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the processing of stock, including goods in transit, cycle counts, physical stock, and stock adjustments
  • Ensure efficient stock flow to the sales floor
  • Assist with stock ordering and maintaining correct stock levels, particularly for FMCG, Health, and Beauty
  • Help with the planning, implementation, and maintenance of promotional stock displays
  • Assist with labeling, pricing, and layout standards adherence
  • Support goods receiving and ensure it complies with standard operating procedures
  • Participate in ensuring transaction integrity for incoming goods receipts and outgoing returns
  • Support management in achieving store sales targets
  • Collaborate with department heads to meet targets
  • Help execute promotions and coordinate with other stores to share knowledge and achieve goals
  • Maintain awareness of market trends and competitor activities
  • Assist in determining profit and sales objectives, proposing strategies to maintain inventory levels
  • Suggest ideas to senior management to increase market share
  • Assist in the development of regional retail strategies to expand the customer pool and optimize profitability
  • Support with daily cash-ups, reconciliation packs, and related paperwork
  • Help schedule point-of-sale operations to ensure efficient service standards
  • Assist with monitoring store expenses and managing stock adjustments
  • Support in analyzing financial statements and ensuring expenses stay within budget
  • Help manage transaction integrity and ensure accurate branch transactions
  • Support management in improving cashier service levels and productivity rates
  • Assist in controlling overtime and casual staff spending
  • Support the store’s internal and external audits
  • Assist in handling customer complaints and ensuring a prompt resolution
  • Encourage new loyalty sign-ups and assist with manual points processing
  • Help with people administration duties, including leave management and staff file management
  • Facilitate human resources processes and submissions in compliance with procedures
  • Account for the execution of tasks on the workforce management system (KRONOS)
  • Assist with the delivery of HR policies and system implementations
  • Ensure all required learning programs and assessments are completed
  • Maintain a tidy and compliant store in accordance with Dis-Chem standards
  • Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, standard operating procedures, and health and safety regulations
  • Ensure personal appearance aligns with the Dis-Chem uniform policy

Special Conditions of Employment:
