DisChem Vacancies – Trainee Manager Pool-Gauteng

Dis-Chem Pharmacies offers an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Manager for their Gauteng stores. This role allows you to learn the overall operations of a retail store under the direction and supervision of an experienced store manager. As a Trainee Manager, you will perform various retail operational duties and gain hands-on experience to develop your career in retail management.

Essential Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Minimum of 1 – 2 years’ experience in retail management disciplines, including stock management, cash handling, reporting, expense control, and customer service
  • Diploma in Financial/Admin or a relevant 3-year Diploma
  • Computer literate – MS Office
  • Willing and able to work retail hours
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Own reliable transport

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate processing of stock, including cycle counts, goods in transit, stock takes, and addressing shrinkage
  • Maintain efficient stock flow to the sales floor
  • Participate in the management of stock shrinkage and ordering stock as needed for FMCG, Health, and Beauty
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and maintaining promotional stock displays
  • Ensure labeling, pricing, and layout standards are adhered to for FMCG, Health, and Beauty
  • Assist with goods receiving in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Help maintain transaction integrity for goods receipts and returns
  • Assist with reconciliation of daily ZMove Packs as per receiving policies
  • Contribute to achieving store sales targets, particularly in FMCG, Health, and Beauty
  • Partner with department heads to meet targets and support effective promotions
  • Help coordinate with other stores to share knowledge and achieve goals
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitors, and customer initiatives
  • Assist management in proposing strategies for maintaining inventory levels and achieving sales objectives
  • Suggest innovative ideas to increase market share
  • Support the development of regional retail strategies to expand customer base and improve profitability
  • Assist with daily cash-ups and reconciliation of paperwork
  • Help schedule the point-of-sale area for efficient service
  • Assist in managing store expenses and ensuring stock adjustments are made to the correct accounts
  • Support in analyzing financial income statements and managing expenses within budget
  • Contribute to improving cashier service levels and productivity
  • Assist with overtime and casual spending control
  • Help manage run ends daily and support in audits
  • Address customer complaints and ensure customer request systems are operational
  • Encourage new loyalty sign-ups and assist with manual processing of points
  • Provide feedback to customers regarding queries and complaints
  • Assist with people administration duties such as leave management and scheduling
  • Facilitate HR processes, submissions, and documentation in compliance with procedures
  • Help manage workforce data and transactional activities in the KRONOS system
  • Support HR policy delivery and system implementations
  • Ensure employees receive necessary training and provide feedback on training sessions
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and learning opportunities
  • Complete on-the-job learning tasks and assessments to become competent
  • Keep the Portfolio of Evidence up to date and ensure sign-off with the Regional Admin Manager
  • Maintain store cleanliness and adherence to Dis-Chem standards
  • Follow all Dis-Chem policies, standard operating procedures, health and safety regulations, and uniform policies

Competencies:

  • Sound knowledge of retail store management disciplines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Business acumen and the ability to interact effectively with suppliers, management, and staff
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Basic financial knowledge (GP, mark-up, VAT, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical skills and time management abilities

Special Conditions of Employment:
