Minimum Requirements:

  • Preferably an NQF 3 Bakery qualification
  • 2-3 years’ experience as a Baker or Bakery Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

Merchandising and Product Quality

  • Manage merchandise presentation, following layout guides and quality checks
  • Ensure all products are prepared per recipe and wrapped according to standards
  • Identify and promote fast-selling lines, enhancing sales opportunities
  • Maintain hygiene, housekeeping, and safe working standards
  • Oversee promotional activities, compliance with display standards, and manage stock rotation

Food Safety & Hygiene

  • Maintain adherence to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Implement corrective actions for non-conformances
  • Schedule regular cleaning, ensure sanitation practices, and complete Food Safety Daily Checklists

Customer Service Management

  • Respond to customer requests, assist with product queries, and offer alternatives for out-of-stock items
  • Ensure the department is ready for trade with all equipment in working order

Staff Management

  • Communicate critical updates to staff, set targets, and delegate tasks
  • Address policy or procedural noncompliance, and coach team members for improvement
  • Attend monthly regional meetings, relay key information to the team, and manage scheduling via Kronos

Administration and Systems Management

  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and functioning
  • Monitor waste control, turnover, and identify growth opportunities
  • Perform gap scans, track stock levels, and address stock concerns with Demand Planning
  • Process administrative tasks, including IDTs, reduced-to-clear actions, and electronic communications via SAP
  • Conduct inventory counts as per National P&L schedule
