Dischem Vacancies – Trainee Admin Manager

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is offering an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Admin Manager in the Lowveld region. As a Trainee Admin Manager, you will work closely with the Store Manager to assist in implementing and maintaining administrative policies and procedures, ensuring that the store operates efficiently and profitably. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in retail and a desire to grow in a management capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Store Manager in daily trading operations to optimize store performance.
  • Assist in managing goods in transit according to Dis-Chem’s procedures.
  • Help manage shrinkage and consumables expenses within store objectives.
  • Encourage new customer loyalty sign-ups and monitor customer engagement.
  • Assist in managing human resource processes, including workforce management (KRONOS), personnel documentation, and compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, particularly in performance management and transaction integrity.
  • Manage the store’s cash resources and daily takings to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
  • Support the management of goods receiving functions, including direct and indirect credits, with a focus on mentorship, growth, and staff development.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of store budgets.
  • Monitor cashier service levels and productivity rates to ensure optimal customer service.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12/Matric
  • At least 3 years of retail experience in receiving, front shop operations, customer service, HR management, and store administration
  • At least 2 years of management experience with a staff complement of around 8
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport
  • Willingness to work retail hours

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree in Financial/Administration/Retail/Business Management
  • Knowledge of SAP and other retail operation systems

Core Competencies:

  • Strong retail admin and management experience, with knowledge of cash office operations, till operations, and customer service
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Basic financial skills, including GP, mark-up, VAT, etc.
  • Effective interaction with suppliers, management, reps, and staff
  • Strong analytical skills and time management

Additional Skills:

  • Basic industrial relations (IR) and management training
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Leadership skills and the ability to motivate others

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willingness to work retail hours
  • Local travel may be required; valid driver’s license and reliable transport are essential
  • South African citizenship
  • Clear credit and criminal records
