Rand Water Vacancies – Tractor Operator

Job Overview:
Rand Water is seeking a skilled Tractor Operator to operate various horticultural equipment to plough, mow lawns, bale and rake grass, fertilize lawns, water trees, and transport equipment. The Tractor Operator will be responsible for driving to the site independently and carrying out the assigned tasks. This role requires a proactive individual who can work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate horticultural equipment such as tractors, lawnmowers, and brush cutters to perform tasks like ploughing, mowing, bailing, and raking grass.
• Apply fertilizers, insecticides, and fungicides as required.
• Perform general cleaning, weeding, loading, and sweeping.
• Drive to work sites independently to carry out assigned tasks.
• Assist with Senior Gardener duties when tractor work is not available.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards on the job.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 qualification.
• Code 08 driver’s license with the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 driver’s test.
• 2 years of experience operating a range of agricultural/horticultural implements and tractor-drawn equipment.
• 3 years of experience operating tractors.

Knowledge:

• Basic knowledge of firefighting and first aid.
• Basic understanding of SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) principles.

Skills Required:

• Strong communication skills (both written and spoken).
• Good planning and public relations skills.

Attitude:

• Customer service-oriented with a commitment to service excellence.
• High attention to quality and detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines and maintain good housekeeping standards.
