Job Description
We are looking for a Technical Sample Room Manager to lead and manage a team of patternmakers, cutters, sewing machinists, graders, and marker makers. The successful candidate will ensure that the team’s accuracy and efficiency meet customer requirements while addressing and resolving all technical aspects related to garment production and critical path deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Knowledge

Ensure internal processes and quality standards align with the Retail Division’s expectations.

Collaborate with the Merchandise and Production departments to ensure garments are costed efficiently and made in a production-friendly way.

Create and enforce standards for garment construction.

Maintain and manage a Block Library.

Ensure all technical information required for garment production is accurate and resolve any arising issues.

Oversee the implementation of systems and procedures, and provide training and support to all staff.
Systems & Processes

Manage the team effectively and efficiently to achieve budgeted outputs.

Implement corrective action plans and revise processes as necessary to meet objectives.

Work closely with the Merchandise and Production teams to plan the department workflow and ensure deadlines are met.

Accurately record sample briefs received from the Merchandising Team.

Track and record when samples are Fit or PP approved.

Demonstrate an understanding of the merchandise-related computer system, Sync.
-
Update allocated Sync tasks in a timely manner.

Ensure machinery and equipment are well-maintained and in good working order.
Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications: Diploma in Clothing Design/Pattern Making, Pattern Technology (Gerber/Lectra), Grading, and Marker Making.

Computer Literacy: Good Excel skills to generate reports.

Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in a similar role.

Strong garment construction knowledge.

Knowledge of multiple product types and construction methods.

A solid understanding of garment manufacturing and finishing processes.

Basic awareness of fabric shrinkage/reactions and their impact on pattern making and the final product.
