Job Description:
Truworths is seeking a Technical Sample Room Manager to lead and manage a team of patternmakers, cutters, sewing machinists, graders, and marker makers. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the team to meet customer requirements while addressing all technical aspects of garment production and critical path deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:

Ensure internal processes and quality standards align with the Retail Division.

Work closely with the Merchandise and Production departments to ensure garments are costed and produced in the most production-friendly way.

Develop and enforce standards for garment construction.

Create and maintain a Block Library.
-
Ensure all technical information required for garment production is correct, resolving any issues that may arise.

Implement systems and procedures, providing training and support to staff.
Systems & Processes:

Effectively manage the team to achieve budgeted outputs.

Implement corrective action plans and revise processes if required outputs are not met.

Collaborate with the Merchandise and Production teams to plan workflow and ensure deadlines are met.

Accurately record sample briefs received from the Merchandising Team.

Record when samples are approved for Fit or PP.

Demonstrate understanding of the merchandise-related computer system, Sync.
-
Update Sync tasks in a timely manner.

Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained and in good working order.
Qualifications and Experience:

Diploma in Clothing Design/Pattern Making, Pattern Technology (Gerber/Lectra), Grading, and Marker Making.

Strong computer literacy with good Excel skills to generate reports.

Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a similar role.

In-depth garment construction knowledge.

Knowledge of multiple product types and their construction methods.

Strong understanding of garment manufacturing and finishing processes.

Basic awareness of fabric shrinkage and reactions, and how this impacts pattern making and the final product.
