Sanlam, a leading financial services provider, is seeking a talented Systems Analyst: Future of Underwriting to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of underwriting by developing and implementing technical specifications in collaboration with our development team and other key stakeholders. As a Systems Analyst, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our systems meet business needs and industry standards, particularly in the area of underwriting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Specifications & Documentation:
Develop detailed technical specifications based on product and process requirements, including integration mapping. - System Design & Analysis:
Create logical system designs that are independent of technology, including use case realization documentation and logical data models. Analyze non-functional requirements and ensure accuracy in all related documentation. - UI & Report Development:
Review and ensure the correctness of UI and use case documents. Add necessary mappings and generate XML for value objects. Support the development of new reports, including XML and XSD creation, and assist in report testing and updates. - Integration & Database Support:
Update schema files and make necessary changes to the domain. Develop and maintain integration specifications, ensuring smooth integration processes across systems. Handle database mappings and assist with the iteration planning, scoping, and estimation processes. - Collaboration & Support:
Work closely with developers, testers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all systems meet functional and non-functional requirements. Provide support throughout the development lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Educational Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
- Tertiary qualifications in technical fields such as systems design, UML, and object-oriented analysis and design (OO A&D) will be a strong advantage.
- Experience:
- 3-4 years of relevant experience in system analysis and design.
- At least 5 years of IT experience.
- Experience in the life assurance or broader financial services industry is advantageous.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of web technology and software development processes within IT organizations.
- Familiarity with Sanlam’s products and quotation systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of object-oriented concepts, design principles, and design patterns.
- Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) experience is desirable.
- Experience with domain-driven design and Exstream reporting tools.
