Job Description
The System Supervisor is responsible for managing and supervising all Point of Sale (POS) transactions to ensure excellent customer service and accurate processing. The role oversees Cash Office operations, banking procedures, and all related POS administrative functions in line with company standards.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 with at least 5 years relevant experience, or a minimum of 10 years related work experience

Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language

Above-average numerical skills

Computer literacy

Previous cashier experience
Key Performance Areas
Point of Sale and Customer Service
-
Ensure all Speedpoint, credit, and debit card transactions are processed accurately and efficiently

Assist customers through clear, professional, and effective communication
-
Handle customer requests, queries, and complaints, resolving or escalating when required
-
Deliver fast, friendly, and efficient service at all times
-
Control and ensure availability of stationery and consumables within the store
Cash Handling and Banking
-
Control store floats including petty cash, till floats, and change floats
-
Manage change ordering and dispensing
-
Balance and record petty cash expenses and vouchers in the petty cash ledger
-
Process back-office transactions and cash up cashiers and the back-office till
-
Manage bulk deposits, special deposits, charge cards, loyalty cards, and returns
-
Ensure all returns are valid and processed correctly
-
Action cash clearances and resolve cash-related queries
-
Ensure timely cash pick-ups and collections
-
Conduct end-of-day sessions on all POS terminals
-
Perform daily cash-ups for all POS terminals, including the back-office terminal
-
Ensure a second designated employee is present during Cash in Transit collections
-
Confirm daily takings are collected by the Cash in Transit service provider

Implement and maintain Ready for Business processes

Ensure cashiers maintain their areas of responsibility

Maintain a neat and organised Cash Office at all times

Ensure only Cash Office-related documentation is kept, filed neatly, and up to date
People Management

Ensure adequate cashier coverage to assist customers at all times

Ensure trained backup cashiers are available
-
Monitor and ensure completion of daily cashier duties and checklists
-
Schedule cashier shifts, leave, and time off timeously
-
Provide and coordinate product knowledge training for cashiers in agreement with the Store Manager

Supervise POS staff and monitor performance
-
Ensure all cashiers comply with the company dress code
Safety (OHSA)

Ensure adherence to all safety standards and procedures
Security Awareness

Remain vigilant to suspicious individuals or activities inside and outside the store

Maintain strict password security

Ensure the Cash Office is secured at all times
-
Keep the Cash Office door locked during cash-ups, pick-ups, and Cash in Transit collections

Ensure till pick-ups are conducted within set parameters

Restrict Cash Office access to authorised personnel only

Secure safe keys in approved custody

Prohibit storage of rations, stock, or unrelated documentation in the Cash Office
