Job Description:
We are looking for a talented Sushi Chef to join our team! As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of sushi dishes, ensuring the highest quality and presentation for our customers. Your role involves checking ingredients for freshness, crafting beautiful sushi displays, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards. You will work with the team to ensure efficient sushi preparation and help keep stock levels accurate. Key Responsibilities:
As a Sushi Chef, your duties will include:
- Preparing and presenting a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, maki, and more.
- Delegating tasks to kitchen staff and ensuring smooth workflow in the sushi department.
- Monitoring food stock and placing orders when ingredients are low.
- Ensuring proper plate presentation and creating visually appealing sushi displays for conveyor belts and pre-packs.
- Developing and experimenting with new sushi recipes, while ensuring all existing recipes are followed accurately.
- Managing inventory, performing weekly stock takes, and coordinating with suppliers for timely ingredient orders.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Collaborating with fellow sushi chefs to meet customer demand efficiently, especially during busy periods.
- Disposing of unsold sushi and managing waste effectively.
Requirements:
To qualify for the Sushi Chef position, you must have:
- A Matric certificate.
- Experience as a Chef, Cook, or Commis Chef, with sushi-making experience preferred.
- Strong English communication skills.
- The ability to work within 15km of the job location.
- A clear criminal record.
