Position Overview
As a Sushi Assistant, you will play a key role in producing high-quality sushi while supporting sales growth, minimizing waste, and ensuring a safe and clean work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Production:

  • Follow the production plan to meet sales goals and minimize waste.
  • Prepare sushi according to recipe specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times.

Sales and Promotions:

  • Support the Sushi Chef in preparing promotional items and ensuring readiness for sales initiatives.

Administration:

  • Assist with monthly stocktaking.
  • Perform daily waste scanning to maintain efficiency.

Food Safety and Hygiene:

  • Adhere to food safety protocols and maintain hygiene standards.
  • Uphold the cold chain and prevent cross-contamination.

Self-Management and Development:

  • Embody Pick n Pay’s values in all tasks and interactions.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, legislation, and best practices.
  • Take ownership of tasks with a positive attitude and embrace feedback.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of sushi recipes and ingredient specifications.
  • Compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Business awareness and customer service orientation.
  • Familiarity with relevant systems, SOPs, and production planning.
  • Grade 12 qualification.
  • Experience in cutting and filleting fish, with broad knowledge of fish varieties.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Must reside near Pick n Pay Norwood Hypermarket.
