Purpose of the Job:
The Manager: Support Services and Maintenance is responsible for operational planning and management within the division. This role includes overseeing employees, managing budgets, and ensuring effective service delivery.
Critical Performance Areas:
- Develop and implement divisional strategies and plans, ensuring alignment with departmental and corporate objectives.
- Manage the division’s budget efficiently, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Lead, develop, and motivate teams, fostering constructive relationships and addressing performance issues.
- Recruit, select, and maintain qualified staff, and manage their performance through regular feedback and performance contracts.
- Plan for succession and knowledge retention to ensure business continuity.
- Communicate key information to team members through meetings and other communication channels.
- Facilitate effective corporate governance and risk management practices.
- Enhance services and products provided to the customer base.
- Develop policies and practices that align with organizational guidelines.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote a productive environment.
- Oversee employee remuneration, ensuring fairness and cost-effectiveness.
- Actively participate in strategic planning to ensure sustainable income and quality service delivery.
- Manage the Support Services and Maintenance division, including electrical maintenance, energy-saving initiatives, and preventive maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and infrastructure.
- Oversee the calibration of equipment, outsourced vehicle maintenance contracts, waste disposal systems, and water reticulation systems.
- Address operational and safety risks, generate procedures to mitigate risks, and manage skills training and statutory training for personnel.
- Formulate strategies and manage the operational and Capex budget of the Support Services and Maintenance unit.
Qualifications:
- BSc (Mechanical) Engineering Degree or BTech (Mechanical).
- A postgraduate degree and/or Business Management degree is advantageous.
Technical/Legal Certification/Professional Registration:
- Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) registration.
Experience:
- 9–12 years of experience, including supervisory or team leader roles.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Technical interpretation of client specifications and test planning.
- Project Management.
- Financial Management and planning.
- Problem-solving techniques for client and personnel issues.
- In-depth knowledge of Alkantpan services for effective marketing and stakeholder engagement.
- Research methodologies in line with International Standards for tests.
- Principles of Maintenance Management and Strategic Management.
