DisChem Vacancies – Store Manager Talent Pool-Western Cape

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is creating a Store Manager Talent Pool for various stores located in the Western Cape. Successful candidates will be responsible for driving overall store profitability and ensuring the store operates in alignment with the company’s brand values and standards.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • A minimum of 5 years of retail store management experience
  • Computer literate, including MS Office
  • Willing and able to work retail hours

Advantageous:

  • Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Management or BCom Degree, Retail Management Diploma, or a relevant Commercial qualification
  • A minimum of 2 years experience with Unisolv, SAP, Qlikview, and previous experience with Kronos

Job Description

  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the store’s budget.
  • Allocate store funds, define financial objectives, and maintain financial and statistical records.
  • Responsible for all banking functions, including deposits and managing cash on site.
  • Optimize store profitability by participating in daily operations, ensuring effective pricing and stock control.
  • Oversee expense-related items, ensuring they are within budget and properly adjusted to the correct General Ledger (GL) accounts.
  • Manage store inventory, including planning, implementing, investigating, and reporting on all stock counts.
  • Oversee stock ordering, maintain correct stock levels, and coordinate bi-annual stock takes.
  • Investigate negative GP values and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and manage shrinkage, stock flow to the floor, and consumable expenses within store targets.
  • Drive sales to meet set targets in health, beauty, and FMCG departments, and manage promotional activities effectively.
  • Ensure promotions are properly planned and implemented, and that all merchandising, labelling, and pricing standards are adhered to.
  • Maintain store condition, visual merchandising standards, and ensure smooth customer traffic flow.
  • Take control of store cash resources, daily takings, and banking procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Manage store float discrepancies, including tender and transaction integrity.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and promptly resolve customer issues while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and support staff, including guiding, training, and mentoring team members.
  • Oversee the performance management process, ensuring employees receive the necessary training and career development.
  • Manage human resource administration, including leave, scheduling, and performance management.

Competencies

Essential:

  • Retail administration and management experience, including receiving, till operations, cash office, and customer service.
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Basic financial skills (GP, mark-up, VAT, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills, time management, and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Numerical skills
  • Familiarity with SAP, UNISOLV, and SuccessFactors

Advantageous:

  • Basic IR and management training
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
