Pick n Pay Careers – Store Manager

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Store Manager to oversee store operations, ensure compliance with standards and regulations, and achieve set targets and deadlines. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a managerial role or previous reliever experience
  • Computer literate (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Teams/Zoom)
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and stock takes
  • Flexibility to be transferred between stores as needed
  • Ability to undertake physical hands-on tasks
  • Completion of an assessment is required

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Journey:

  • Maintain a customer-centric approach and ensure high customer service standards
  • Address all customer service requests and provide information on products and services
  • Adhere to visual merchandising (VM) standards and execute plans and promotions

People Management:

  • Manage all people-related aspects, including staff recruitment and development
  • Address employee performance issues and provide necessary training and development
  • Assist with performance management and succession planning

Daily Operations/Stock Management/Risk Management:

  • Open and close the store in accordance with security procedures
  • Conduct start and end-of-day reporting and administrative tasks (staff scheduling, invoices, pricing, banking, etc.)
  • Ensure merchandise is handled, captured, packed, and displayed according to company policy
  • Monitor product quality, control shrinkage, and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards

Sales/Promotions:

  • Promote sales to achieve budget targets and monitor sales performance
  • Conduct and implement sales promotions, markdowns, and RTCs (Reduced to Clear)
