Job Purpose:

The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the efficient operation of the store and deliver service excellence by leading and directing the store operations team. This will help meet sales, profit, and compliance targets, ultimately contributing to a competitive advantage for the brand.

Job Objectives:

  • Drive and maximize the store’s financial performance by tracking and achieving daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets. Proactively take appropriate action as required.

  • Efficiently manage all operational activities of the store, including expenses, stock management, shrinkage, housekeeping, and administrative duties.

  • Ensure successful execution of in-store visual merchandising, maintaining promotional standards and store presentation, while ensuring the store reflects the brand image.

  • Lead the team by ensuring effective selection, leadership, and ongoing development of staff to meet both current and future business needs.

  • Adequately schedule staff in line with the Group’s labor policy and the relevant labor model to ensure full and appropriate staffing in each department.

  • Complete all administrative responsibilities efficiently, including managing time and attendance records and ensuring that employee records are submitted to HR in a timely manner.

  • Execute customer service initiatives in-store, taking corrective action where necessary to ensure a great customer experience, customer loyalty, and achievement of club card participation targets.

  • Build and maintain sound working relationships with key stakeholders (such as center managers, suppliers, and DCs) to ensure business objectives are met and opportunities are maximized.

  • Stay aware of customer trends, local competitor activities, and demographics to identify and capitalize on new opportunities.

  • Drive cohesion and integration between the store operations, pharmacy, and clinic teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.

  • Foster a high-performance business culture that promotes employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and shareholder value.

  • Support the Group’s vision of being the customer’s first choice in health and beauty retail by living and promoting company values.

Desired Experience & Qualification:

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Essential: Grade 12 (with at least 50% in Maths and English)

  • Essential: B. Degree or Diploma in retail/finance management, pharmacy, or a related field (for external applicants)

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a store management role within a retail/FMCG environment or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme

  • Financial management experience, including working with budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial ratios.

Job Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding and application of financial management principles.

  • Extensive retail/FMCG experience, with a good understanding of merchandising and promotional principles.

  • Knowledge of stock management, cost, risk, and compliance procedures.

  • Expertise in delivering customer service excellence.

  • Understanding of labor legislation and industrial relations practices.

  • Knowledge of competency-based interviewing techniques.

  • Strong managerial and leadership skills.

  • Results-driven with excellent planning and organizational abilities.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Strong customer orientation and interpersonal skills.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Computer literacy with strong financial acumen.
