Job Purpose:

The Store Manager at Clicks Klerksdorp will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the store and maintaining service excellence. This role involves leading the store operations team to meet sales, profit, and compliance targets, ultimately driving a competitive advantage for the brand.

Job Objectives:

  • Drive and maximize sales by tracking daily targets and taking proactive action to ensure the achievement of financial performance.

  • Effectively manage and control all operational activities of the store, including expenses, stock management, shrinkage, housekeeping, and administration.

  • Oversee the execution of in-store visual merchandising, ensuring that the store presentation and promotional standards align with the brand image.

  • Lead and develop a motivated and competent team by managing selection, leadership, and on-going employee development to meet current and future business needs.

  • Schedule staff according to the Group’s labor policy and relevant labor model, ensuring each department is appropriately staffed.

  • Ensure all administrative duties are completed efficiently, including weekly time and attendance and employee record submissions to HR.

  • Implement customer service initiatives, take corrective actions when necessary, and enhance the customer experience, aiming to increase loyalty and achieve club card participation targets.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders such as center managers, suppliers, and DCs to achieve business objectives and maximize opportunities.

  • Monitor customer trends, demographics, and local competitor activities to identify and capitalize on opportunities.

  • Promote integration and collaboration between the store operations, pharmacy, and clinic teams to drive cohesive business performance.

  • Foster a high-performing business culture that enhances employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and shareholder value.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Essential: Grade 12 (Maths 50% and English 50%)

  • Essential: B. Degree or Diploma in retail/finance management, pharmacy, or related field (External applicants)

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a store management role within a retail/FMCG environment, or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme.

  • Experience in financial management, including budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial ratios.

Job Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding and application of financial management principles.

  • Retail/FMCG background with expertise in merchandising and promotions.

  • Knowledge of stock, cost, risk, and compliance management procedures.

  • Expertise in customer service excellence.

  • Understanding of labor legislation and industrial relations practices.

  • Knowledge of competency-based interviewing.

  • Strong managerial skills, with a results-driven approach.

  • Planning, organizing, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent customer orientation and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in computer systems and strong financial acumen.
