Purpose of the Role
As a Station Commander Training, you will play a key role in identifying learning needs, developing training materials, and facilitating workforce training and assessments. Your responsibilities will align with industry standards, legal requirements, and accreditation authorities such as IFSAC and HPCSA. By ensuring employees are well-prepared to meet workplace challenges, you will drive Sasol’s strategic objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and design tailored learning interventions and outcomes.
- Conduct research and development on training methodologies, materials, and equipment.
- Deliver training using a variety of methodologies and techniques.
- Guide learners in applying skills within the workplace context.
- Perform assessments according to unit standard requirements and legislative frameworks.
- Evaluate assessment processes and propose corrective actions to close performance gaps.
- Measure the effectiveness of training through job performance improvement.
- Develop structured learning plans aligned with the 70:20:10 framework.
- Support learners with special needs by adapting training programs.
- Monitor learner progress against individualized development plans.
- Facilitate on-the-job training and ensure successful completion of learning interventions.
- Act as a moderator/assessor as needed to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: National Diploma in Fire Technology, ETDP, or equivalent.
- Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience.
Certificates (Mandatory):
- Code 14 (EC) Driver’s License
- Firefighter 1 & 2 (NFPA 1001)
- Registered BAA (BLS)
- Hazmat Awareness and Operations (NFPA 472)
- Fire & Emergency Service Instructor 1 (NFPA 1041)
Certificates (Preferred):
- High Angle Rescue Course
- Confined Space Course
- Motor Vehicle Extrication Course
- Pump Operational Course
- Aerial Pump Operators Course
- Advanced Petrochemical Course
- Registered AEA (ILS)
