Purpose of Job
Promote a positive health and safety culture in the workplace by implementing, monitoring, and reviewing protective and preventive safety measures. Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines and support employee well-being through effective occupational hygiene practices.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implement the One Sasol SHE Excellence approach and understand its risk-based methodology.
  • Apply all relevant SHE elements and ensure adherence to performance requirements.
  • Understand Sasol Group key SHE undesirable events and associated controls.
  • Manage SHE risk controls relevant to ventilation and occupational hygiene.
  • Participate in governance and professional SHE forums.
  • Define and deliver quality, cost-effective services and support.
  • Interpret, report on, and manage RFA functions, ensuring quality control.
  • Maintain cost awareness and implement improvements to business performance.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and refer patients as required, ensuring occupational injury rehabilitation.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Compile progress reports and functional capacity assessments.
  • Set and manage KPIs for RFA personnel, ensuring objectives are met and resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Maintain CPD requirements and share expertise within the team.
  • Ensure project and work plans meet technical and professional objectives.
  • Manage medical records in compliance with standards and maintain professional service standards.
  • Analyse recommendations, identify problems, design solutions, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain effective relationships with Business Unit SHE managers, coordinators, peers, clients, and service providers.
  • Identify and manage interventions to address non-conformances in medical rehabilitation and functional assessments.
  • Ensure efficient application of resources and maintenance of medical assets, equipment calibration, and legislative compliance.
  • Ensure responsible areas are fully staffed and operational.

Formal Education

  • University Bachelor’s Degree / BTech in Occupational Hygiene
  • Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (preferred)

Working Experience

  • 6+ years of relevant experience

Required Personal and Professional Skills

  • Collaboration and organizational savvy
  • Understanding of SHE policy, strategic objectives, and human factors
  • Knowledge of safety management techniques and principles
  • Business insight, planning, and alignment skills
  • Action-oriented with strong professional behaviours
