Transnet Vacancies – Snr Specialist: Business Analysis

Position Purpose:

As the Snr Specialist: Business Analysis, you will play a critical role in driving alignment across Transnet to maximize value creation and ensure the achievement of strategic objectives. Reporting directly to the Group Chief of Security, you will provide strategic support, overseeing the business operations within the department and ensuring the realization of required strategic impacts and business results. Your role will involve championing value creation, leading improvements across all facets of Group Security, and facilitating enhanced performance, decision-making, and risk mitigation.

You will serve as a key liaison between staff, executives, and senior leaders, ensuring smooth communication, project updates, and planning. You will also oversee daily operations, collaborate with senior management and department leaders, and perform an array of business analysis tasks to ensure the efficient functioning of the Group Chief of Security’s office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic and tactical support to the Chief Security Officer, contributing to the development of comprehensive, integrated programs and initiatives.
• Analyze business data across all Group Security functions to gain insights on compliance and emerging trends, informing management decision-making.
• Ensure effective short, medium, and long-term planning by all Group Security functions, with a focus on risk identification and mitigation.
• Communicate strategies and plans, embedding risk awareness and ensuring compliance with policies and relevant legislation.
• Design reporting templates and performance dashboards for effective and meaningful reporting.
• Liaise with key stakeholders to integrate programs and initiatives, enhancing Group Security’s performance.
• Manage governance matters, ensuring timely and adequate action in line with corporate requirements.
• Oversee the development and management of relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate the development of annual budgets for the cost centers reporting to the Group Chief of Security and monitor expenditure.
• Drive the integration of the Group Chief of Security’s inputs into the Corporate Plan and Integrated Report.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in social, law, military, police, or management sciences with a focus on socio-economic research, sustainability, or related fields.
• Knowledge of basic social science research methodology and basic project management skills is desirable.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in a large organization with complex operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial role focused on security risk management, research, and analysis.
• Forensic investigations and vetting qualifications are an added advantage.
• Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Transnet’s mandate and business.
• Experience in strategy development and business planning.
• Trustworthiness and honesty in handling finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19.
