Sasol careers – Snr Instr & Control Technologist
Purpose of the Role
The Snr Instr & Control Technologist will provide critical technical support to managers and engineers, ensuring the efficient development, installation, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems. You will play a key role in optimizing plant performance, guiding colleagues, and managing resources for project execution and operations support.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply a broad base of instrumentation and control engineering knowledge.
- Maintain and improve Distributed Control Systems (DCS) applications and strategies.
- Interface with stakeholders in the control environment to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Support new control hardware and software implementation.
- Ensure governance and support for projects post-Gate 4–6, including HAZOP, LOPA, SIL reviews, MFD reviews, FAT & SAT, loop checks, and commissioning support.
- Work with technologies such as TDC2000, TDC3000, Experion, Profibus, Ethernet-based networks, and ESDs.
- Adhere to safety standards and policies while optimizing resource allocation.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in work processes.
- Provide technical input to multidisciplinary project teams and ensure delivery of high-quality services.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand and meet their needs.
- Share and implement innovative ideas to optimize system performance and operational efficiency.
- Drive personal development and track performance targets as per a personal performance plan.
Qualifications and Certifications
- Education:
- BTech or Advanced Diploma in Electronic, Control, or Process Instrumentation (Essential)
- Professional Engineering Technologist (ECSA) registration (Preferred)
- Experience:
- 10+ years of relevant experience in instrumentation and control systems.
- Licenses:
- Valid driver’s license required.
