Purpose of Job:
As a Senior Artisan Diesel Mechanic, you will ensure the efficient operation of automotive machinery by verifying adherence to specifications and quality standards. Your role will focus on maintaining and troubleshooting equipment to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate proven competence in specific areas related to the plant/mine/equipment/systems.
- Utilize the plant maintenance documentation system effectively.
- Understand and follow the work management and planning system.
- Possess relevant plant/mine-specific knowledge for diesel mechanics.
- Ensure compliance with Safety Management Systems (e.g., IMS, MBO).
- Apply emergency procedures and safety protocols when necessary.
- Conduct task risk assessments and implement hazard identification processes.
- Participate in daily meetings to discuss work assignments and align with business goals.
- Provide regular feedback to supervisors regarding work progress.
- Engage in root cause analyses and contribute feedback to RCA teams.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices and adhere to waste disposal procedures.
- Share technical knowledge with junior artisans to support skill development.
- Lead by example and take charge in team efforts when necessary.
- Assist with developing work instructions to enhance staff competency.
- Mentor learners and artisans in an informal capacity.
- Perform inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability.
- Contribute to overall maintenance strategy and provide input on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ensure the correct history feedback is captured for renewals, upgrades, and critical spare replacements.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Formal Education: Occupational Trade Qualification/Certificate in Diesel Mechanics.
- Experience: 0 – 5+ years of relevant experience in diesel mechanic roles.
- Licenses: Motor Vehicle Driver’s License.
