Purpose of the Job
The Shiftboss role is critical in guiding and coaching personnel to achieve operational excellence in mining activities. This position ensures adherence to mining regulations and focuses on building high-performing teams capable of meeting production and safety targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership:
- Plan, organize, and control daily operations to achieve KPIs, including tonnage, equipment availability, and adherence to maintenance schedules.
- Implement and monitor compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Codes of Practice (COPs).
- Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain world-class safety performance, ensuring compliance with SHE policies and achieving zero harm targets.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and implement continuous improvement in key safety metrics.
- Technical and Operational Support:
- Provide first-line technical solutions for challenges within the team’s scope.
- Conduct failure trend analysis and implement root cause elimination strategies.
- Resource Management:
- Ensure the availability of spares, equipment, and other resources for uninterrupted operations.
- Monitor and manage costs to deliver production within budget.
- Team Development and Engagement:
- Offer on-the-job training, coaching, and career development to team members.
- Foster teamwork and engagement to build a motivated workforce.
Education and Qualifications
- Required:
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)/N3 with Mathematics, Science, and English/Business English.
- Blasting Certificate for Fiery Mines.
- Gas Testing and Competent A Certificates.
- Licenses:
- Valid Driver’s License.
Experience and Skills
- Experience: Minimum 6 years in mining operations.
- Skills:
- Technical troubleshooting and mining optimization.
- Strong leadership with a focus on collaboration, safety, and performance improvement.
- Proficiency in SHE policies, risk management, and operational excellence.
