Armscor Vacancies – Shift Leader: Physical Security

Purpose of the Job:

The Shift Leader: Physical Security is responsible for providing an effective and cost-efficient in-house security service. This role involves supervising Security Officers during their shifts to prevent losses and protect Armscor assets, personnel, and visitors.

Critical Performance Areas:

• Physical Security Management:
  • Enforce physical security policies and procedures.
  • Assign Security Officers to designated security points.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure all security equipment is functioning properly.
  • Investigate and report incidents occurring during the shift to the Manager: Physical Security.
  • Issue access cards and compile access reports.
• Electronic Security Oversight:
  • Monitor all systems in the building control center.
  • Observe electronic systems from the control room to prevent crime.
  • Respond to and investigate fire alarms and report findings to the Manager: Physical Security.
  • Address building system alarms and report to the Manager: Physical Security.
  • Update security-related registers in the control center.
• Protection Officer Management:
  • Deploy protection officers to ensure effective physical security.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure protection officers are performing effectively.
  • Facilitate communication between protection officers.
• Administrative Duties:
  • Compile and present the monthly shift roster to the Manager: Physical Security.
  • Maintain on-duty and shift-placement registers.
  • Manage protection officers’ leave for the shift.
  • Evaluate and report on the performance of security officers monthly.
  • Oversee security registers and related administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12
• Grade A (PSIRA) Security Programme
• Code B driving license (Advance Driving Course is advantageous)
• National Key Point certification (advantageous)

Technical/Legal Certification/Professional Registration:

• PSIRA registration

Experience:

• 6-7 years of experience in security or protection services.
• Previous experience as a deputy shift leader or supervisor in a security environment.
• Experience operating security electronic systems.

Knowledge & Functional Skills:

• Understanding of security policies and procedures.
• Problem-solving skills related to protection services.
• Experience handling VIP clients, including protocol and etiquette.
• Basic knowledge of military ranks and insignia.
• Familiarity with building control center operating procedures.
• Knowledge of people management.
