Job Advert Summary:
Clover is seeking a SHE Officer to ensure compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) regulations and legislation within our operations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- SHE Compliance and Audits:
- Conduct safety, health, environmental, and risk assessments and audits.
- Complete incident investigations and maintain records on the Entropy system.
- Oversee contractor activities on-site to ensure adherence to SHE standards.
- Perform inspections with Maintenance and Departmental Managers, capturing and tracking action plans on Entropy.
- Coordinate and lead SHE Representative meetings.
- Manage the induction program for new employees, ensuring they are informed about SHE practices.
- Arrange for the maintenance of safety equipment and update records/registers on Entropy.
- SHE Awareness and Communication:
- Create and promote SHE awareness among all employees by sharing relevant information promptly.
- Actively contribute to team objectives and foster a collaborative team spirit.
- Partner with various teams to ensure SHE practices are integrated across departments.
- Ensure timely submission of SHE inspection registers before meetings and their return to the relevant departments.
- Occupational and Primary Health Services:
- Conduct medical examinations, including pre-employment, pre-placement, exit, and annual medicals.
- Provide treatment for injuries on duty and manage incidents on-site for permanent and contract staff.
- Conduct regular Occupational Health surveys in collaboration with a medical practitioner.
- Assist in performing health risk assessments and dispense medicine according to legislative requirements.
- Liaise with medical specialists, doctors, hospitals, and management regarding employee health concerns.
- Develop and maintain an annual program for medical surveillance.
Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent NQF4.
- Experience: Relevant experience in applying SHE-related concepts, techniques, and processes. People management experience is preferred.
- Skills:
- Basic computer literacy.
- Code 08 Driver’s license.
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
