Job Description
Shaft Rock Engineer
As a Shaft Rock Engineer, you will provide specialized rock engineering expertise within the MRM department, ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and uphold rock engineering standards at the shaft level.
- Advise on rock engineering challenges and recommend solutions.
- Halt unsafe or non-compliant work environments.
- Develop and design rock engineering plans, reports, and budgets.
- Engage specialist expertise for complex rock engineering issues.
- Maintain and enforce Codes of Practice for rock bursts and falls.
- Provide daily engineering recommendations supported by modelling and analysis.
- Evaluate and implement alternative support systems.
- Lead accident investigations and produce detailed reports.
You will report directly to the Chief Rock Engineer.
Qualifications
- COM Rock Mechanics Certificate (Metalliferous Mines).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mining, rock engineering, or strata control.
- Proven capability to meet technical and legal appointment requirements.
- Membership with SANIRE.
