Role Overview

The Senior Manager – Next Generation Business Support Systems (BSS) is part of the MTN Group Technology IT Strategy and Architecture team. This position focuses on transforming MTN’s charging and billing systems by integrating advanced AI and Generative AI technologies. You will play a pivotal role in driving digital innovation across MTN’s markets, delivering superior customer experiences, operational excellence, and cost optimization as part of MTN’s PACE strategy.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Manager – Next Generation BSS, you will:

  • Strategize and Lead AI Innovations:
    • Design and implement AI-enabled BSS solutions, including infrastructure, tools, models, and applications.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Digital, Fintech) to co-create AI-powered revenue management systems.
    • Develop AI architectures, business processes, customer insights, and big data optimization frameworks.
  • Consultation and Implementation:
    • Guide teams in embedding AI/ML models within workflows and ensure billing accuracy.
    • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives and drive AI model governance for seamless integration.
    • Define strategic roadmaps and execute AI-enabled BSS projects at scale.
  • Innovation and Ecosystem Collaboration:
    • Partner with industry stakeholders to create cutting-edge solutions.
    • Establish and grow a community of practice for AI-driven BSS initiatives within MTN.
  • Governance and Performance Tracking:
    • Develop AI governance frameworks and align operational processes with standards.
    • Define KPIs and metrics to measure the impact of AI/ML initiatives.
    • Deliver monthly and quarterly performance reports to stakeholders.

Deliverables

  • Next-Generation AI Frameworks: AI reference architecture, value realization strategies, and roadmaps for implementation.
  • Performance Insights: Monthly and quarterly reports on AI adoption and model effectiveness.
  • Community Development: Establish a collaborative environment through workshops and IT circles to enhance AI adoption.
  • Future-Ready Solutions: Proof-of-concept designs for emerging trends and technologies.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree (Honours preferred) in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
    • MBA/Master’s degree is advantageous.
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified ML, Microsoft Azure AI certifications).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 10 years in IT, with 8+ years in BSS/OSS architecture focusing on charging and billing systems.
    • 5+ years in AI/ML solution development, deployment, and optimization.
    • Proven experience in AI-enabled cloud solutions and public cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
    • Expertise in tools such as TensorFlow, Keras, Pandas, and Scikit-learn.
    • Track record in strategic leadership, innovation, and partnership management.
