Job Description:
The Senior Manager – Head of Security is accountable for leading the comprehensive strategy and execution of security solutions within MTN, with a primary focus on driving operational excellence, commercial success, innovation, and customer satisfaction. This role combines leadership across several functions including product management, pre-sales, engineering, platform delivery, and go-to-market initiatives, ensuring a seamless integration that enhances solution maturity, accelerates time-to-market, and optimizes margins.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy Development:

  • Lead the creation and execution of end-to-end solutions within the security business line, aligning with MTN’s broader organizational goals. Focus on driving innovation, continuous improvement, and solution maturity.
  • Drive growth strategy, including sales targets, to meet business objectives in alignment with overall MTN goals.
  • Guide the development and implementation of solution-specific annual plans in alignment with business line objectives.
  • Assess emerging market trends and customer needs to continuously refine and evolve the business strategy.

Business Line Solution Leadership (End-to-End):

  • Lead a cross-functional team across pre-sales, product management, engineering, and delivery to develop and enhance security solutions.
  • Oversee pre-sales activities and collaborate with sales teams to ensure solutions meet both technical and business requirements.
  • Provide direction to product and engineering teams to ensure solutions are aligned with business strategy and customer needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement to enhance solution delivery and accelerate time-to-market while maintaining financial sustainability.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction throughout the delivery process, meeting or exceeding service expectations and contractual agreements.

Business Operations Leadership:

  • Develop and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to meet client needs and ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration between business as usual (BAU) functions and external partners to create synergies and enhance product offerings.
  • Implement integrated project management strategies to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of security solutions.
  • Oversee business processes, identifying areas for automation and optimizing efficiency within the function.

Financial Management and Budget Control:

  • Take ownership of the Profit and Loss (P&L) for assigned solutions, ensuring cost optimization and revenue growth.
  • Work with leadership teams to set annual budgets, sales targets, and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to control costs while ensuring high-quality solution delivery.

Governance, Risk, and Reporting:

  • Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure security, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and manage risks related to security solutions, ensuring continuity and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the implementation of quality assurance processes to ensure solutions meet the highest standards of reliability, security, and performance.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on industry innovations, introducing leading practices and concepts to improve internal processes.
  • Contribute to MTN’s intellectual property and brand positioning by engaging in thought leadership and industry networking.

People Leadership & Management:

  • Set clear objectives and goals to drive a high-performing security team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Mentor and develop staff, providing training and growth opportunities to ensure professional development.
  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive team culture that aligns with MTN’s values and mission.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives to maintain a motivated and dedicated team.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology Systems (Telecommunications Management/Information Technology) or related field.
  • MBA or Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, including senior management roles in commercial/telecommunications environments.
  • Proven success in developing and managing innovative security solutions with a track record in P&L management and solution lifecycle oversight.
  • Expertise in Agile, Lean methodologies, and managing cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in security technologies and customer engagement (AI, security frameworks, etc.).
