Purpose of the Role

As the Senior Manager Group Org Design, you will develop and refine organisational design (OD) strategies, frameworks, and principles to align Sasol’s structures with its strategic goals. You will provide leadership and direction for the OD function across the Group, ensuring effective collaboration with key stakeholders and alignment with Sasol’s operating model. Your role will enable business priorities through optimal structures, robust job design, and governance processes to monitor the organisation’s size and shape while supporting talent management and workforce planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define detailed organisational structures for business units, aligning with Group design and operating model principles.
  • Establish Sasol’s approach to translating the business and operating model into organisational architecture and design principles.
  • Provide expert OD guidance to leaders, supporting the design and implementation of business and people transformation projects.
  • Collaborate with Group HR to integrate OD principles with broader HR capabilities, including talent management, rewards, and HR systems.
  • Monitor and implement governance processes for job measurement and ensure internal and external alignment.
  • Analyse organisational structures to identify synergies, optimisation opportunities, or realignment needs.
  • Prepare and present diagnostic reports on the organisation’s size, scale, and structure to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Lead annual reviews to ensure adherence to organisational design and job architecture standards.
  • Build OD capabilities across the broader HR community to enable sound, aligned decision-making.
  • Develop action plans addressing inefficiencies in work processes or team structures.
  • Collaborate on strategic people projects and transformation initiatives, ensuring scalability and alignment with future business needs.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and guidelines for organisational design, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:
    • Relevant 3-4 year university degree.
    • Postgraduate qualification (preferred).
  • Experience:
    • 12+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years in a management or leadership role.
