About MTN

Operating in a dynamic tax, financial, regulatory, and governance environment, the Senior Manager – Forecasting, Planning, and Analysis will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of financial planning and strategic analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Business Planning and Strategy Execution

  • Lead strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with MTN Group goals.
  • Interpret financial and non-financial results to drive business insights and support decision-making.
  • Oversee cash flow management, capital expenditure programs, and investment portfolio evaluations.
  • Provide support to OPCOs (Operating Companies) in delivering strategic initiatives and aligning local execution with global objectives.

Operational Delivery

  • Prepare and present management information, including CFO and CEO reports for EXCO and Board meetings.
  • Design, implement, and maintain group-wide MIS systems and ensure operational units meet reporting standards.
  • Manage quarterly forecasts, consolidate business unit data, and provide actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Develop and monitor performance KPIs, ensuring targets are met across the organization.
  • Lead ad-hoc financial projects, including feasibility studies, efficiency analyses, and special investigations.

Continuous Improvement

  • Enhance financial processes and systems, emphasizing automation and operational efficiency.
  • Benchmark financial performance against industry peers and recommend best practices.
  • Train and mentor FP&A teams, fostering professional growth and knowledge transfer across the organization.

Staff and Leadership Management

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Set clear objectives for the team and assess progress using defined performance metrics.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and adherence to Group governance standards.

Key Deliverables

  • Accurate, complete, and timely management and financial reports.
  • High-quality annual reports and consolidated Group financials.
  • Effective communication within financial functions and alignment across operating units.
  • Delivery of strategic insights to support decision-making at the highest levels.

Qualifications

  • Education: CA (SA), CIMA, or a minimum 4-year Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
  • Experience:
    • 8+ years in Management Accounting (post-qualification).
    • 5+ years of telecom experience in a management role.
    • Strong track record in strategic direction, implementation, and cross-functional collaboration.
    • Experience with Hyperion and Oracle Financial Analyser is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage teams and projects in a complex, multi-geographic environment.

Capabilities and Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, IAS, and macroeconomic principles.
  • Expertise in KPI monitoring, business case evaluation, and CAPEX valuation.
