Engen is seeking a motivated and determined Senior Laboratory Analyst to join their team in Durban. Who You Are:
- Highly motivated and determined with strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Experienced in adhering to safe laboratory practices, chemical handling, and disposal
- An expert in your field with knowledge of basic analytical equipment concepts, analytical methods, and chemistry
- Passionate about quality and science, with the ability to analyze and interpret test results
- A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
What You Have Done Before:
- A relevant Chemistry Diploma or Degree with at least 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting
- Exceptional computer skills and good customer service abilities
- Demonstrated ability to interpret analytical results
Advantageous:
- B-Tech qualification in Chemistry or Quality
- 3 years’ experience in the lubricants and chemicals environment
- Proven knowledge of ISO 9001 and 17025 standards
- Experience with SAP systems

What You Will Be Doing:
- Product Testing: Testing samples as per procedures, ensuring service level agreements are met, and communicating results to customers
- Expense Control: Managing preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and controlling chemical usage
- Equipment Management: Ensuring proper equipment usage, availability, and identifying needs
- Quality Management: Participating in proficiency testing, statistical quality control, and ensuring data integrity, precision, and accuracy
- Staff Training & Development: Coaching and developing laboratory staff on practices and procedures
- Laboratory Maintenance: Adhering to safety rules, ensuring good housekeeping, and method modification/validation
Working Hours:
- LOBP working hours apply, with overtime and shift work as required
Location: Durban, South Africa
