We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our team on a 3-month fixed-term contract. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, payroll, tax submissions, and inventory reporting. Proficiency in Intelliserve and Pastel is essential, along with strong reconciliation skills and experience in both accounting and payroll functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Manage cash flow and maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
- Balance subsidiary accounts through regular reconciliations.
- Maintain the general ledger, including transferring subsidiary account summaries and preparing trial balances.
- Conduct general ledger to sub-ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare month-end financial reports, break-even reports, commission reports, and sales analysis with stock items.
- Reconcile Intercompany Loan accounts.
- Conduct quarterly stock control and stock takes.
- Assist with contract and job-related queries.
- Manage fleet expenses.
- Utilize Intelliserve spreadsheets for financial analysis and reporting.
Banking & Cashbook:
- Oversee daily and weekly Nedbank Business Hub transactions and resolve queries.
- Process import clearing with costing.
- Handle supplier payments via Nedbank Global.
- Capture and reconcile all bank accounts in the cashbook.
Debtors & Creditors:
- Resolve debtor queries and process credit notes as needed.
- Generate manual customer statements and perform debtor reconciliations.
- Process supplier goods received notes and invoices (including imports) on Pastel.
- Perform creditor reconciliations and prepare payment lists for month-end payments.
Inventory Management:
- Create new article codes and barcodes on Pastel.
Tax & Compliance:
- Prepare and submit SARS VAT201 and EMP201 reports via e-filing.
- Manage SARS UIF and EMP201 submissions, including EMP501 IRP5 submissions on Easyfile.
- Distribute IRP5 tax certificates to employees.
Payroll for Group:
- Process payroll, including capturing transactions, issuing payslips, and managing employee contracts.
- Oversee Old Mutual Provident Fund contributions and employee timecards.
- Prepare payroll reports and reconciliations.
- Submit UIF and EMP201 to SARS as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proven experience in bookkeeping and payroll management.
- Strong proficiency in Intelliserve, Pastel, and Easyfile.
- Experience with SARS VAT, EMP201, EMP501, UIF, and payroll tax submissions.
- Skilled in bank reconciliation and business banking portals (e.g., Nedbank Business Hub).
- Ability to manage stock control and inventory reporting.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and handle multiple financial tasks efficiently.
- Matric or equivalent; accounting/finance qualifications preferred.
