The Senior Account Executive: Employee Relations is a senior management role responsible for the tactical operationalization of Transnet Pipelines’ strategic account management and business development strategy, in alignment with the Transnet Corporate Plan. This includes:
- Leading integrated business development and customer account management for existing and new business, focusing on retaining and growing volume through key processes across Transnet Pipelines’ functional departments.
- Acquiring, drafting, negotiating, and implementing long-term strategic customer revenue-generating contracts for the petroleum and gas sectors.
- Developing and implementing business development and marketing strategies, providing financial and contract management support per commodity.
- Managing a Capacity Allocation framework for Transnet Pipelines’ terminals, depots, storage facilities, and pipelines, ensuring equitable resource allocation to customers while promoting new market entrants.
- Coordinating commercial and operational interfaces with stakeholders to ensure quality assurance, control, and collaboration.
- Managing customer interactions to improve efficiencies and volume.
- Project managing customer and industry interface initiatives focused on volume growth and logistics chain efficiencies.
- Driving the transition to LNG and Hydrogen energy solutions with specialized logistics and commercial models.
Position Outputs:
- Support the development and implementation of a commercial strategy per commodity, ensuring accurate strategic account reporting and alignment with divisional planning and performance.
- Develop and implement long-term integrated contracts for strategic customers in the petroleum and gas sectors.
- Coordinate the monthly invoicing process and credit notes to customers, ensuring consistency and compliance with contractual splits, tariffs, and volumes.
- Report monthly to EXCO on volumes and revenue relative to forecasts, targets, contracts, and budgets, addressing any projected shortfalls and financial implications.
- Develop and lead action plans to address customer issues in collaboration with internal departments.
- Notify customers of Force Majeure and update the commercial position based on technical reports.
- Consolidate monthly volume reconciliations and align internal and external SLA information.
- Monitor and review all customer contracts, ensuring alignment between Transnet Pipelines’ functional departments and customers.
- Conduct and manage bi-annual demand volume validation processes with strategic customers and industry stakeholders.
- Align TPL demand targets with Transnet Freight Demand Models, capacity planning teams, and update forecasts and budgets for petroleum and gas commodities.
- Implement strategic account management protocols to retain strategic customers, grow volume, and enhance efficiency across all customer touchpoints.
- Equip account executives and support staff with continuous improvement skills to address deviations from standards.
- Manage executive engagements between Transnet, TPL, and customers to maintain alignment on strategic industry issues.
- Develop and implement commercial contracting options to optimize Transnet Pipeline infrastructure and ensure compliance with NERSA regulatory requirements.
- Lead collaborative projects with customers and industry to foster cooperation and relationship building, driving volume growth and supply chain efficiencies.
- Develop innovative logistics and commercial solutions to protect and grow the customer base.
- Manage capacity allocation frameworks for terminals, depots, storage facilities, and pipelines.
- Develop integrated internal and customer SLAs, monitoring and reporting on obligations and action plans.
- Manage and coach staff, driving performance and change management initiatives.
- Leverage market research and trend analysis to grow volumes and diversify service offerings.
- Drive the transition to LNG and Hydrogen energy solutions with specialized logistics and commercial models.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Commercial Law, or a related field.
- Financial qualifications are an added advantage.
- At least 10 years of management experience in commercial, freight logistics, or the petroleum or gas sector.
- 2 years of project finance and financial modeling experience.
- At least 5 years at a senior management level.
- Driver’s license code 8.
- Willingness to travel as required.
