Dischem Vacancies – Security Guard Supervisor
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a dedicated and experienced Security Guard Supervisor to join our team at the Long Meadow Distribution Center.
As a Security Guard Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, visitors, and property. This position involves leading a team of security personnel, overseeing security operations, and implementing company policies to ensure the highest standards of safety.
Responsibilities
- Organize and oversee all security operations, including monitoring access points for both vehicles and pedestrians.
- Conduct thorough investigations into any signs of damage, unlawful entry, or suspicious activities.
- Ensure continuous personnel screening and vehicle searches throughout the day.
- Conduct security briefings at the start of each shift to communicate updates and security concerns.
- Monitor security systems such as CCTV and burglar alarms, reporting any malfunctions to management.
- Implement preventive measures to reduce the risk of accidents, theft, or other security-related incidents.
- Supervise refuse removal and ensure all entry points are secured at the end of each day.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and coordinate with law enforcement or other emergency services as needed.
- Prepare detailed written reports on any incidents, providing both verbal and written updates to management.
- Organize work schedules for security personnel, including shift rotations and break times.
- Lead and mentor security staff, ensuring they are equipped to respond appropriately during emergency situations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- Grade C accreditation with the PSIRA
- PSIRA registered
- At least 3 years of security experience in a retail environment, preferably in shopping malls or warehouses
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role within the security field
Competencies
- Strong knowledge of PSIRA regulations
- Fire emergency and relevant Health and Safety training
- Excellent command of the English language (read, write, and speak)
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
- Strong leadership, motivational, and organizational skills
- Trustworthy, honest, and self-motivated
- Must be able to lift and move 50kg for a minimum distance of 50 metres
Special Conditions
- Must be a South African citizen
- MIE, clear criminal and credit record
- Driver’s license and own reliable transport
- Work in various weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors
