PURPOSE OF THE JOB
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Section Leader to oversee our Stores Banking team at PEP. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on optimizing processes, analyzing financial data to drive decision-making, and leading a high-performing team.
As the Section Leader: Stores Banking, you will collaborate closely with the Sales team to mitigate risks and prevent fraud. Your expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and relationship management will be key to ensuring operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and develop the Stores Banking team to achieve performance targets.
- Identify and escalate potential financial losses to the Risk team.
- Manage monthly accounting, budgeting, and variance reporting for bank fees and insurance.
- Oversee Insurance claims administration and resolution.
- Maintain strong relationships with banks and third-party service providers.
- Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency (systems and IT processes).
- Handle ad hoc financial and operational tasks as required.
Requirements
JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS
- B.Com or related qualification with an Accounting major.
- 3–5 years of experience in a financial role.
- Strong understanding of Stores banking processes.
- Retail experience is advantageous.
- Proven management experience is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Google Suite (particularly Google Sheets).
- Solid grasp of financial accounting principles and numerical reasoning.
- Knowledge of banking regulations (e.g., Interchange legislation, POPi).
- Ability to assess the impact of financial decisions.
- Experience in implementing new systems and processes.
- SAP knowledge is beneficial.
