Pep Vacancies – Section Head : Banking

Purpose of the Job
PEP is looking for a Section Head: Banking to oversee the Stores Banking Team within the Finance department. The role focuses on delivering accurate financial insights, identifying potential short- and non-banking issues, and managing the Insurance portfolio to ensure operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational and Results Management: Monitor financial operations to achieve key deliverables.
  • Budgeting and Monthly Accounting: Ensure accurate budgeting, accounting processes, and monthly financial reporting.
  • Reporting: Provide detailed financial reports to highlight performance and areas for improvement.
  • Insurance Portfolio Management: Oversee and optimize the operational management of the Insurance portfolio.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the Stores Banking Team to meet organizational goals.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks: Manage other finance-related tasks as required.

Job Requirements

  • B.Com degree or related qualification with Accounting as a major.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in a financial role.
  • Retail experience will be advantageous.
  • Previous management experience is beneficial.
  • Computer literacy: Google Suite (Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets).
  • SAP experience is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in numerical reasoning and data analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of banking laws (e.g., Interchange legislation, POPIA compliance).
  • Ability to implement new systems and streamline processes.
  • Effective decision-making with awareness of business impact.
  • Excellent management and organizational skills.
