Job Description:
As a Sausage Maker at Food Lovers Market, you will play a crucial role in preparing high-quality sausage products according to our production standards. Reporting directly to the Butchery Manager, you will be responsible for processing meats, creating a variety of sausage products, and maintaining a clean and efficient workspace. The role requires flexibility with shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and manufacture a variety of sausages, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Accurately record quantities of meat used and keep detailed production records.
- Operate butchery equipment such as grinders and stuffers with proficiency.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, cold chain principles, and relevant meat legislation.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the workspace and ensure equipment is kept in optimal condition.
- Assist in managing stock levels and ensure that all sausage products are produced to meet demand.
- Minimize waste and shrinkage in line with department budgets.
- Participate in weekly stock takes and block tests to manage costs and efficiency.
- Maintain a positive attitude, effectively communicate with team members, and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
- Stay updated on new sausage-making techniques, tools, and industry trends.
- Ensure high energy and a focused mindset during busy periods, working efficiently under pressure.
Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12 certificate).
- Previous experience in sausage making, meat processing, or butchery.
- Proficiency in English.
- Reside within 15 km of the store location.
- Clear criminal record.
Preferences (Not Required):
- South African citizenship.
- Grade 2 Meat Cutting Certificate.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a butchery or sausage-making environment.
