Food Lovers Market Vacancies – Sausage Maker Eastern Cape

Job Overview:
Are you passionate about sausage-making and want to work in a dynamic butchery environment? We are looking for a skilled Sausage Maker who can produce high-quality sausage products in line with production plans. Reporting to the Butchery Manager, this role requires flexibility in working shifts, including weekends, Sundays, and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Sausage Maker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing and processing various types of sausages to meet quality standards.
  • Accurately recording quantities of meat received and sausage products issued for sale.
  • Operating sausage-making equipment, including grinders, mixers, and stuffers.
  • Following food safety guidelines and ensuring proper storage of meat products by maintaining cold chain principles.
  • Planning production to maintain stock levels and minimize waste.
  • Keeping a clean, organized, and hygienic workspace at all times.
  • Assisting with weekly stock takes and monitoring product shrinkage.
  • Ensuring equipment is maintained and in good working condition.
  • Collaborating effectively with team members and engaging with customers.
  • Staying informed about current trends in sausage-making and butchery techniques.
  • Displaying a positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes.
  • Working efficiently under pressure and maintaining high energy levels during shifts.

Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A Matric certificate.
  • Prior experience as a Sausage Maker or in meat processing.
  • Good understanding of food safety and meat handling regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • A clean criminal record.
  • Living within 15km of the job location.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • South African candidates preferred.
  • A Meat Cutting Certificate (Grade 2 or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sausage production or meat processing.
