Position Purpose
The SAP Basis Administrator will manage the installation, upgrade, and maintenance of SAP systems, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability. Key responsibilities include:

• Maintenance and performance tuning of SAP databases (DB2/HANA).
• Monitoring critical system resources.
• Managing transport migration.
• Performing regular control checks for compliance.
• Executing backup and restore testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain multiple SAP instances within the TPT SAP environment.
• Administer and support DB2/HANA databases, including installation and performance tuning.
• Oversee SAP security administration, batch job management, and user access, including authorizations and profiles.
• Perform regular backups, restore testing, and fine-tuning for optimal data integrity.
• Conduct SAP client administration tasks (create, copy, delete, export/import clients).
• Assist in planning and executing SAP system upgrades.
• Develop and update documentation for all SAP instances and interfaces.
• Provide regular status updates on BASIS administration activities to management.
• Plan and implement SAP patching and security upgrades to ensure system resilience.
• Ensure compliance with audit and security standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant Qualification or National Diploma (NQF 6/7) in IT, Technical, or Computer Science; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of SAP application support experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or specialist role.
• SAP certification and comprehensive knowledge of SAP integration areas.
• Additional SAP skills in cross-functional areas and related technologies are advantageous.
• Familiarity with the Transnet Leadership Development Programme is a plus.

• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of SAP ECC 6.0, Solution Manager, DB2, HANA, and Oracle database administration; AIX Operating System, and Tivoli Storage Management; Tape Backup and Recovery; Schema and Storage management.
