Purpose of the Job
The Sales Representative is responsible for promoting and selling Value Logistics services, with a strong focus on Value Truck Rental and the cross-selling of the full Value service offering. This includes Logistics, Linehaul, Equipment, Fridge Fleet, Freightpak, Warehousing, Clearing and Forwarding, Moving Billboards, and Express services, with the objective of driving revenue growth and strengthening customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Business Development

  • Gather and analyse customer transport, distribution, and expenditure information

  • Evaluate potential customer spend and apply appropriate focus factors

  • Maintain strong awareness of competitors within the assigned area

  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with customers

  • Identify customer service requirements and provide accurate quotations for relevant Value services

  • Grow the existing customer base by understanding client operations and cross-selling Value services

  • Close sales opportunities and secure new business

  • Identify and develop national account opportunities

  • Maintain a clear understanding of customer contracts with Value Logistics

  • Ensure services delivered remain aligned with current customer requirements

  • Develop a deep understanding of customer businesses to support sustainable growth

  • Add value to every customer interaction with clear objectives for each visit

  • Maintain Value service levels in line with Standard Operating Procedures

  • Maintain frequent contact with key business influencers and decision-makers

  • Keep product and service knowledge up to date

Customer Relationship Management

  • Identify customer challenges and resolve queries promptly, including invoicing, claims, and PODs

  • Maintain a professional image and represent the Value brand at all times

  • Ensure customer satisfaction through consistent service delivery

  • Adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures

Reporting and Performance Management

  • Submit all required sales and activity reports accurately and on time

  • Meet or exceed budgets, targets, and performance goals set by management

  • Contribute positively to team objectives and expectations

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with additional tasks or duties as reasonably requested by management in support of organisational objectives

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • Proven experience in a sales environment

  • Proficiency in English and Afrikaans

Skills Required

  • Ability to apply appropriate sales techniques to different situations

  • Strong ability to identify and understand customer needs

  • Effective time management and planning skills

  • Strong customer relationship management capabilities

  • Understanding of risk management principles

  • Ability to independently assess and accept risk outcomes
